Why don’t people make their own baby shower favors anymore? It used to be that whenever you went to a baby shower, everything would be new and unique because everything was hand made, from the food to the decorations. Unlike birhtday parties or wedding showers, this was expected. Moms and grandmas and aunts all got together and made the shower favors and laughed and giggled and talked about the baby to be. This doesn’t happen anymore. I have been to an increasing number of baby showers over the last 10 years and it seems fewer and fewer are hand crafted events. Now there are themes and store bought decorations and party trays but worst of all are the store bought pre made favors. There is no longer a personal touch to it. It may be a metal rattle that says the date and the baby’s name, but it doesn’t really “say” anything about the family or their excitement about the new addition.
